Kief-Joshua Vineyards will once again host a "faux" winemaker chopped cooking challenge and the non-profit Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI) in a professional Chili cook-off, where cooks from the Southwest will be competing for a spot in the national challenge, on April 13th, 2019, from 11 am to 5 pm.
"We are also having a People Choice chili cook-off for our guests who want partake in the festivities," states Kief Manning, winemaker. "Those who want to complete simply show up at 10 am with five pounds of chili, utensils to pour and a card table. It's always a fun event." For a $10 donation to Rotary, guests can also taste both the competition chili and People’s Choice chili’s while supplies last. Proceeds benefit the Mountain Empire Rotary Club.
For added fun, four winemakers will also be competing in a faux-episode of Food Networks hit show “Chopped.” Ann Roncone of Lightning Ridge Cellars, Cory Whalin of Su Vino Winery, and Ruth Graham of Golden Rule Vineyards and Kief Manning of Kief-Joshua Vineyards will be competing. The judges will include three area chefs.
